Awards

In 1998, Spielberg won an Academy Award for Best Director . He has been nominated for seven academy awards in the category of Best Director, winning two of them (Goldderby). Thee of his films, Jaws (1975), E.T The Extra Terrestrial (1982), and Jurrassic Park (1993) achieved box office records, each becoming the highest grossing film of all time. To date, Steven Speilberg's gross of movies and worth is $8.5 Billion dollars (Goldderby). He has won many more awards through out his film career. Spielberg is one of the top film directors in the world. 

Early Career (1969-75)



As an intern and guest of Universal Studios, Spielberg made his first short film for theatrical release, the 26-minute Amblin (1968). Spielberg became the youngest director ever to be signed for a long-term deal with a major Hollywood studio. Steven is among one of the most popular and influential filmmakers in the history of cinema. He is known to produce, screen write movies is tension in parent-child relationships. Most of his films deal with ordinary characters searching for or coming in contact with extraordinary beings or finding themselves in extraordinary circumstances. 

Early Life




Steven Allan Spielberg was born December 18, 1946 in hometown Cincinnati, Ohio to an Orthodox Jewish family. His mother, Leah Adler Posner was a restaurateur and concert pianist, and his father, Arnold Spielberg was an electrical engineer involved in the development of computers. Steven spent most of his childhood living in New Jersey as well as Scottsdale, Arizona. As a child, Spielberg faced difficulty reconciling being an Orthodox Jew. He was timid on what the other children may say or think of him. All the way up until high school Spielberg had a rough childhood because he was Jewish. He was a victim of bullying and prejudice, in high school he got smacked and kicked around. But he did not let that stop him from chasing his dreams. 






After moving to California, he applied to attend the film school at University Of Southern California School of Theater, Film and Television, but was unsuccessful. He than applied to California State University. Spielberg became a brother of Theta Chi Fraternity. His actual career began when he returned to Universal Studios as an unpaid, seven-day-a-week intern and guest of the editing department there. After Spielberg became famous, University of Southern California awarded him an honorary degree in 1994, and in 1996 he became a trustee of the university (Wikipedia). Thirty-five years later he earned his bachelor degree in Theater, Film and Television production (.bio).

Who is Steven Speilberg?


Steven Allan Spielberg is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, and business magnate. Steven is among one of the most popular and influential filmmakers in the history of cinema. He is well known for many popular movies today. Some of Spielberg's work includes E.T the extra Terrestrial, Hook, Transformers, Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park, and many many more (Imdb). He is by far one of the most influential film personalities in the history of film. Today Steven Spielberg is looked at as one of the greatest ever figures in entertainment.

I myself am very fond of his work. Many of the movies he has screen wrote and director have been my favorite of all time. For example, growing up E.T was one of them as well as hook. I feel like most of childhood was formed around Steven Spielberg's films. Here are some of his top movies he has made through  out his career in film.
